I so agree, families have been, continue to be, under attack. Just as the very idea or belief in God has been as well.
I separate out religion from God/Source/Universe because over time they too, have tended to become polluted politically. (The Vatican as clear example) But religion or not, the inclusion of a Source as life-giving, intelligent, loving and responsive and that we are in relationship to and with, at all times - VS not, is like the difference between being in the ocean on a boat or being in the ocean on your own. Exhausting just thinking about it.
I’ve rejected religious notions all my life, yet, I’m drawn to the grand intelligence of the universe and I call that god so I’m not sure where that puts me. I’ve experienced things that I can only call supernatural and can feel the god in things and I believe in miracles and lately, I’ve looked at religious text as though it has been written in code- something for us to crack to fully be able to grasp. And I can never reject your Lord’s Prayer and I do believe in its power because you have invested energy into its belief. After all, thoughts, words, and even more so, actions, are powerful prayers. Thanks for this wonderful reminder to be true in both spirit and action. As far as giving to the needy, yes, but giving should be relocalised, none of this church or government charity infrastructure. We can give better when in relationship with the receiver.
I like how you pray for more than what you need so you can share with others. I’ve noticed in my recent studies how much the Lord expects us to care for the hungry, fatherless, widows, the needy in general. It seems to be one of the most, if not the most, important thing to him. The church I used to pay tithes to spends less than .75% of tithing receipts on assistance for the needy. There will be a reckoning for that. But, that’s on the leadership. We all need to consider how we’re helping the poor.
Thank you for another great post, for your voice and for what guides you to shine a light and share your thoughts! Please keep writing! Every voice counts.
I am the absolute one. Watch out. Might bite you. i have the most sharp teeth. I hear you when you say people like long post but at night while you’re crying you may think differently.
Beautiful post, David.

David, I love your version of The Lord’s Prayer. Calling it Our Father makes sense to me. I FEEL the prayer when I say it.
My name for our father is The Divine and sometimes Creator.
Thank you for your words of wisdom.
