Radiation therapy, cancer and tying some strings together
This is my current personal journey, I hope that the story/solution helps others.
Image is of an old dude getting radiated by the latest state of the art equipment. The face/head cover is attached to the platform I am on and holds my head perfectly still.
There are two previous posts that I want to tie together. One was the post “EMFs The Dangers”, this is the really important one, and the other was a story in a post entitled ”following the cosmic trail”. These two posts also tie together with this post and the image of the old dude getting radiated.
For several years I have had skin cancer problems, the cancer is like popcorn on movie night, pops up everywhere. The latest was not skin cancer, but a nice large fast growing tumor under the skin. Popped up on my forehead, grew rapidly, had emergency surgery to get it removed and the lab report said it has metastasized. Hence the radiation therapy.
I have several times asked doctors about prior radiation exposure if it could be a factor in this cancer that keeps popping up, they always say no. In the post “following the cosmic tail” I briefly talked about a nuclear accident on a submarine I was on. This is the radiation I was referring to. Did some research and what I found out was that this type of radiation exposure leads to cancer later in life. I am later in life. The doctors always tell me I need to wear a hat and it is the sun that is causing it. However I have worn a hat since 1972, never go without it.
Prior to starting the radiation therapy my companion and I talked to the oncology doctor. My companion is fluent in both French and English and acts as the translator and my advisor. The oncology doctor said that the side effect was going to be red skin like a sunburn on my head. Jen then asked about hair loss and the doc said yes will loose hair and an eyebrow. I think, I am bald already and I have these cool aviator style sunglasses that cover the eyebrows, so good to go. Jen then asked to see all of the possible side effects in a written document and this was refused, just sign the statement that you have been fully informed of all the possible side effects so we can start the treatment. They actually said that there are no bad side effects. Cool game.
We had done some research on radiation therapy and what we were reading was that it is highly effective, read no negatives. Decided to go ahead.
Nine treatments in I get fireworks in my left eye, lots of floaters, and in addition dark creatures racing across my left eye and streaks of light shooting all around. Decided to do an internet search about this possible side effect and found out yes, it is a common side effect and if it is sudden and severe that an ophthalmologist needs to be consulted. I decide to stop the treatments until I can be examined.
Now that we are into real side effects Jen informs me that skin necrosis also a side effect.
Another internet search takes me to the NIH web site and wow, 85-95% of people that get radiated on the head or neck have subsequent life changing problems. Also a good possibility of further cancer from the radiation therapy. This is now looking like a full stop on the radiation therapy as the skin on my head is already crusted over and looks ugly. What to do? Reading down in the article I come across a few solutions besides skin grafts. One of those that they delve into at some length is nitric oxide, NO. Here comes the post about EMFs The Dangers post. Nitric oxide is listed as the main mitigator of EMFs other than avoidance. That post tells you how to naturally generate NO in your body.
I have been playing with the Nitric Oxide exercises and found that you do not need to do them as Nash does, but can do them in many different ways. The important thing is rapid movements, this is what generates the nitric oxide. I was getting pains in my wrists, it was becoming hard to lift objects, so I decided to move my wrists around quickly; up and down, back and forth and in circular motion and the pain went away. Same thing with my fingers.
Now I am working on ways to get that nitric oxide into my head; still trying to figure out how to wriggle my ears, but everything else that I can move up there I am moving as fast and as often as I can.
When this all started to develop, I was thinking about those that say they are fighting cancer. My thought was well, the docs are doing most of the fighting and us patients are just suffering through that. Now, for me it really becomes a physical fight. I will use the doctors only when absolutely necessary and radiation to the head is off the table forever. It has its uses for good outcomes, but avoid the head area if at all possible is my take on it.
I hope that this post will be useful to some one. I will let you know how this goes for me and if my skin that looks like crumbled saltine crackers with pepper added will recover. I am hopeful and upbeat about the prospects.
Dear David,
I love the information you have shared in your past Substack posts. Absolutely great stuff!
This current health update you are sharing now hits close to home for me. I am a retired Registered Nurse so l have cared for many patients with skin cancer. As well as myself.
Also, as a fair skinned lady who spent many years on the beach in a bikini in Florida l started to experience a lot of skin cancer myself that necessitated removal intermittantly starting at around 40 yrs of age. I am now 69 yrs. old. A couple of years ago a small spot of Melanoma skin cancer was found on my left shoulder. It was successfully removed. Then a year ago a "pre-melanoma" spot was discovered on my back & successfully removed.
Since then l have been doing a lot of research. I have learned that Melanoma may NOT be from excessive sun exposure. But have not yet learned what MIGHT be the contributing factor. It does run in families.
I have also learned (& observed in my past patients) that radiation seems to do more harm than good so l pray you stick to your decision to receive no more!
And, although l personally have never been treated with NO l have heard of TONS of folks who have had superb results with said treatment for many types of cancers.
I realize you are saying this spot on your forehead was not truly skin cancer & was probably due to radiation exposure. Thank God you had surgery immediately.
Anyway, there is SO MUCH info out there on the internet about alternative treatments for so many cancers & l'm sure you are researching them indepth. Fasting is important. Oral & IV vit. C has shown to be very helpful. Also things with high humic & fulvic content (as in Shilajit & Mumiyo). I have not used these treatments myself. Only read about them. But there's also so much more!
Who cares about outward appearances like saltine-cracker looking skin! You persevere & keep us updated.
Wishing you all the best!
Neo40 - supplement
Buteyko breathing techinque (It's brutal but works)
Both increase Nitric Oxide in the body. They're great!
Get Well David!!
